Client Spotlight Video: Mercy Health

November 17, 2015 Stephanie Radcliffe

We are very transparent with our data. That transparency has created ownership, culture change and RL6 has created transparency. Our event reporting has increased every month since we went live and it continues to climb. And, to me, that's a testament that staff see things are changing, process improvement is happening and they feel heard—so they're reporting more.

Renee King

Performance Improvement Manager, Mercy Health

An RL client since 2010, Mercy Health (formerly Catholic Healthcare Partners) uses RL6:Risk to support its quality improvements. Before Mercy Health went with RL6, the system used another event reporting system but it just wasn't working for staff. With average entry times of 30-45 minutes, Renee was tasked with either fixing things with Mercy Health's current vendor or finding a new system. The organization sent out an RFP and Mercy Health selected RL6.

With RL6, Mercy Health has:

  • Cut average entry times by more than half
  • Standardized the process for capturing Serious Reportable Events (SREs) and data elements around the SREs such as RCAs, disclosure, outcomes and risk reduction strategies
  • Established workgroups around falls and pressure ulcers, resulting in a reduction of both of those types of events
